The exit door looms for Newcastle’s misfit striker Joselu, as a move to La Liga outfit Alaves looks all but done, according to reports.
Reputable Spanish publication, Mundo Deportivo, claims the Spanish striker will be signing for the Basque club in “a matter of time” as he “flees from the Premier League” in the hope of more first team football.
While he never looked up to scratch in the Premier League, often struggling to make an impact in games, and not able to find the net consistently, he always gave everything for the black and white shirt.
His ability is questionable, his attitude is not.
Newcastle fans pride themselves on wanting players at the club who would ‘run through walls’ for the badge. That Joselu simply was not good enough, is not his fault. But when he was on the pitch, he busted a gut for the team.

Joselu’s departure will leave Newcastle with very little up front
As far as we are concerned, the worrying aspect of his departure, is what it does to the squad. With Joselu on his way and Rondon far from certain to be returning, we are left with only Ayoze Perez – another player who may be looking at pastures new – and Muto as our forward line.
As much as that scenario is likely to change before pre-season starts, as long as Rafa Benitez’s situation is up in the air, we are no closer to strengthening any position, let alone the vital striker slot.
Something needs to be done regarding the manager and playing staff, or soon, all the top targets will be gone, and we will be left with another sub-standard, bargain-bin forward to come in and fill a gap that he is simply not capable of.
Here are some of the fans’ reactions to Joselu’s impending departure:
