Newcastle United could be proved wrong if Ismaila Sarr seals a return to the Premier League.
The Watford winger is reportedly a target for Crystal Palace, who have opened talks with Rob Edwards’ side. Everton have also been linked.
It has been claimed that the 24-year-old could cost £30million, with Watford set to let the Senegal international leave Vicarage Road.
Speculation over a move away appears to be ramping up, but Newcastle are nowhere to be seen. That’s interesting given how heavily linked he previously was.

Newcastle did want Ismaila Sarr
The Magpies are no strangers to Sarr. He was linked twice during the Mike Ashley era before he arrived on English shores.
Amanda Staveley and co’s arrival has brought Sarr back on the club’s radar, and a move for the speedster has been rumoured on more than one occassion.
Most Recently it was claimed by Sky Sports that he could be a cheaper alternative to Moussa Diaby for the Magpies. Given that the Bayer Leverkusen superstar isn’t heading to Tyneside, it has came as a surprise not to hear of a Toon approach for Sarr.

There is obviously a reason why Newcastle aren’t in the race for Sarr, but he could soon have the chance to prove that Dan Ashworth made a mistake.
Hopefully Sarr doesn’t prove Newcastle wrong
If Sarr does join Palace or Everton, Newcastle will be able to see firsthand what he is capable of in a better team. He could be a great fit under Patrick Vieira, who is building a wonderful team at Selhurst Park.
Eddie Howe is doing the same at St James’ Park, but is plans clearly don’t involve Sarr. If they did we would surely be making a move. It’s been reported all summer that Watford plan to sell him, while the Magpies have always been in the market for a right winger.

Whether it’s his price, his ability on the ball, his willingness to defend, his tactical awareness, or a combination of everything, Newcastle clearly don’t fancy Sarr.
Let’s hope that’s a decision we don’t regret. Instead, Ashworth is trying to bring in his Watford teammate Joao Pedro, who is much more unproven.
We must trust that the decision makers inside St James’ Park are making the right decisions. They haven’t let us down so far. Hopefully that doesn’t change soon when it comes to Sarr.
