An incredible report has come out from French newspaper Le Progres, which claims that Olympique Lyonnais manager, Bruno Genesio, is in England ahead of signing a four-year deal as Newcastle manager.
The report goes on to say the club is “about to be sold” to a Dubai billionaire, which is sure to have fans excited, if proved to be true.

Fans who are expecting Steve Bruce to be unveiled as the underwhelming successor to Rafa Benitez, will undoubtedly be hoping the news is genuine.
Genesio is a top manager, and was one of the names mentioned earlier in the summer as a possible replacement for Benitez, before it was officially announced that he was leaving.

He guided Lyon to the semi-finals of the Europa League in 2016/2017 season, and if he were to be in the St James’ Park dugout, it would be quite a coup.
A sale of the club would have Newcastle fans rejoicing
Intriguingly, the article also says that the club will be sold, which has “aroused the interest” of Genesio.
The report boldly claims: “Bruno Genesio, who was on vacation, returned yesterday to Lyon, before joining Newcastle, to conclude the formalization of a new and beautiful experience.”

It would be welcome news on both the managerial and takeover fronts for Toon fans desperate for Ashley to go, and for anyone other than Bruce to become manager.
It is doubtful to be a credible story, but time will tell.
