According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have enquired about signing Wylan Cyprien this month.

The report claims that the midfielder is worth £20 million, with Tottenham also keen on bringing him to the Premier League.

Newcastle did business with Ligue 1 side Nice last transfer window, bringing Allan Saint-Maximin to St James’ Park. And if Cyprien is just as good as his former teammate, he could quickly become another fans’ favourite.

The Magpies do have a few options in midfield, but could certainly do with a player of Cyprien’s quality. Jonjo Shelvey blows hot and cold, Isaac Hayden is a defensive player, Sean Longstaff has struggled to get back to his best, and younger brother Matty is still just a baby.

This isn’t the first time Newcastle have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, having first targeted him under Rafa Benitez in 2017 when we were en route back to the Premier League.

He was good enough then and he’s even better now. Cyprien could walk straight into Steve Bruce’s starting XI and make a difference.

And after reading reports of Newcastle’s interest, a lot of fans are desperate to see him in a black and white shirt this month.
