Alexander Isak has been back at the Newcastle United training ground in recent days, but that does not mean Eddie Howe is going back on his statement of intent.
Indeed, Howe was critical of Isak’s behaviour when speaking as the club’s pre-season tour of Asia was coming to a close.
Isak missed Newcastle’s pre-season tour with what was described as a “minor thigh” injury, though was seen undertaking an individual fitness regime at former club Real Sociedad.
The striker wants to leave Newcastle and join Liverpool this summer, with the Reds already having a huge offer rejected.
The Premier League champions could return with a fresh bid, although it remains to be seen if Newcastle would cash in on Isak if they cannot sign a convincing replacement.
Still, as it stands, Isak is a Newcastle player and the situation took a fresh turn on Wednesday.

Alexander Isak told to train alone at Newcastle United
According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Isak has been told to report to the Newcastle United training ground after his teammates have left.
The Newcastle United manager had arranged a family day at the training ground, with players allowed to bring their partners and children.
Isak was not part of those plans, following a demand from the club.
Eddie Howe’s brilliant response in Alexander Isak saga
Howe said no player could “act poorly” and expect to return to training as normal.
That is a brilliant message to send. Isak is one of the world’s best forwards but cannot simply be allowed to pick and choose as he pleases.
At times, it’s felt that Newcastle have refused to be too critical of a player who may eventually end up staying.
However, the message is now clear. Isak now has a choice on his hands, he can either work his way back into the picture at Newcastle or try and hold out for a move to Liverpool.
The latter feels risky. In order to move on, Isak could need Newcastle to sign two strikers first and little about what they’ve done this summer would suggest that is likely any time soon.
