Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.
It was claimed yesterday (Northern Echo) that the Magpies are keen to sign the England international on loan, as well as his midfield teammate Billy Gilmour.
That follows a report from a couple of weeks ago from TEAMtalk.
At this stage, it seems like it will be a tall order for Newcastle to land Abraham.
He’s got a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2023 (via Transfermarkt) meaning Chelsea are in a strong position over the striker.
Apparently they value him at around £40 million.
But Chelsea’s stance over the player could well soften if Romelu Lukaku joins them this summer.
According to Sky Sports, the Belgian is likely to leave Inter Milan this summer, and Chelsea are keen to re-sign him.
Corriere dello Sport (via Daily Express) reported last month that he is valued at around £103 million.
Chelsea’s Lukaku interest could help Newcastle
The last thing Abraham needs at Chelsea is another striker coming in.
He hardly plays as it is under Thomas Tuchel.
If the Blues completed a deal for Lukaku it would be a disaster for him if he had hopes of playing regularly.
It’s something for Newcastle to keep an eye on, as it could result in Abraham agitating for an exit.
