Takeover theories are running riot at Newcastle right now.
Some think it’s not happening at all. Some believe it’s all going on in the background, which is why there’s now radio silence. Others believe the hold up could be down to Newcastle’s position in the table.
The Magpies are currently 13th, seven points clear of the relegation zone. It would only take a few bad results for Steve Bruce’s side to get dragged into the fight for survival.

And if Newcastle do go down, the value of the club would go down as well.
If you’re a prospective buyer, you want to know you’re getting value for money. You aren’t going to spend upwards of £300million for something that could decrease in value within months of purchase.
Perhaps this is where the Newcastle players could influence proceedings.

Everyone talks about the magic 40 point mark. And as it stands, the Magpies need three wins to get there.
Fortunately, Newcastle have a decent run of fixtures coming up.
First it’s Crystal Palace, then it’s Burnley at home before a trip to Southampton. Three games against teams in a very similar position to ourselves.

And if Bruce’s men do the unthinkable and win all three, the club can probably start planning for another season of Premier League football. And in turn, any potential takeover might progress.
Of course, this is all hypothetical. As the silence from Mike Ashley continues, who knows what is truly going on.
