Could Newcastle-linked Tammy Abraham push for Chelsea exit after FA Cup snub?

Sunday was not a good day for Chelsea, as they lost the FA Cup final, but a potentially interesting one for Newcastle United.

Leicester City triumphed thanks to a Youri Tielemans stunner, which handed them the trophy for the first time in their history.

Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI was particularly interesting.

The German again plumped for Timo Werner in attack, with Olivier Giroud left on the bench.

Perhaps most strangely, there was no place in the matchday squad for Tammy Abraham, who was linked with Newcastle last month (TEAMtalk).

The 23-year-old has found minutes hard to come by since the Blues’ managerial change in January, but to not be included in the FA Cup final squad despite being fit to play was a real surprise.

With four goals in the competition, he definitely played his part in helping them reach Wembley.

Abraham has since said on social media: “It hurts but we still have unfinished business. Thank you for your support, good to have you back.”

Abraham may push for exit

Perhaps Newcastle ought to keep an eye on this situation now.

£80,000-a-week star Abraham (Telegraph) is actually Chelsea’s top goalscorer so far this season, so for him not to make the bench on Sunday will have been a bitter blow for the England international.

Perhaps the snub will prompt him to strongly consider his future this summer.

He’d be a regular starter for a lot of Premier League teams, and would certainly earn such status at St. James’ Park, where he would potentially forge a nice little partnership with Callum Wilson.
