Kelland Watts has never played a competitive game for Newcastle United, but the youngster has been training with the first-team ahead of our next game against Leicester City.
The 20-year-old joined Stevenage on loan in the summer before penning a new contract with the Magpies. However, his situation with the League Two club is unclear.
Watts picked up an injury in November but there has been no confirmation of him returning to the north east.
The club posted a selection of training photo’s on the official website ahead of the Leicester clash, and Watts can be seen joining in with the session.
The article mentions Watts, saying: “The 20-year-old, who can play in defence or midfield, spent the first part of the season on loan with Stevenage before picking up an injury in November.”
After the Everton defeat, Bruce hinted that Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune are doubts for the next game, while Jamaal Lascelles, Paul Dummett and Ciaran Clark aren’t ready to return either.
So if Bruce does want to stick with three centre-backs, Watts might be in line for his debut.
