Aleksandar Mitrovic is a target for Liga MX giants Club America, according to reports in Mexico.
The Serbia international has fallen out of favour at Newcastle United and, in December, announced his intention to leave the club due to the lack of opportunities under Rafa Benitez.
But Mitrovic, who is still just 23, would not come cheap and Benitez could well look for a fee in excess of £15million.
It is unlikely America could afford such a figure but they would surely be in the running for a loan move and a change of scenery could aid both Mitrovic and Newcastle in the long term.
Liga MX has welcomed misunderstood European forwards in the past, with Andre-Pierre Gignac excelling with Tigres following his 2015 move from Marseille.
Gignac has scored over 60 goals in Mexico, winning a regular place in the France squad in his first year and then playing a role in their run to the final of Euro 2016.

With the World Cup on the horizon, such international recognition would certainly appeal to Mitrovic as he looks to secure his starting spot for Serbia.
But Newcastle would also benefit from a return to form for the former Anderlecht man.
A handsome goal tally would give Benitez the option to bring Mitrovic back in, but he could also expect interest from more serious bidders in future transfer windows.
Big-spending MLS clubs will be keeping a keen eye on proceedings in Mexico – particularly ahead of the CONCACAF Champions League – and Newcastle may well find a suitor willing to match their valuation of the forward.
A transfer across the Atlantic may not satisfy Mitrovic’s band of supporters on Tyneside, but it could well work for all parties.
