If Conor Gallagher gets his way, he won’t be joining Newcastle United this summer.

According to the Sun, Newcastle are one of three Premier League clubs interested in the midfielder, alongside Leeds and Crystal Palace.

However, they claim that Gallagher wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place.

The 21-year-old has been at West Brom this season on loan – his first taste of Premier League football.

It has ended in disappointment though, with the Baggies officially being relegated on Sunday night.

Despite West Brom’s relegation, Gallagher has impressed at the Hawthorns.

The youngster has been full of energy in the middle of the park, whilst also scoring two goals.

However, he is partial to a booking. Gallagher currently has 10 yellow cards to his name.

Gallagher’s determination to play for Chelsea next season is admirable. However, it feels very unlikely.

Thomas Tuchel already has a plethora of centre midfielders, such as N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic. Billy Gilmour is emerging from the academy, while Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also set to return from their loan spells.

Gallagher faces a lot of competition to get into the Chelsea first-team, suggesting that maybe another loan move would be wise.

That’s what a lot of Chelsea fans think, who responded to a poll from @AbsoluteChelsea asking what should happen to Gallagher.

While a large portion of supporters wanted to keep him, most voted for him to go out on loan again.

While Gallagher wants to stay at Chelsea, we don’t know if Tuchel feels the same.

As it stands, Newcastle won’t get the chance to sign him this summer. However, that could all change in the coming months if Chelsea see things differently to Gallagher.
