Newcastle United failed to sign a striker in January. And it is a decision that continues to plague them.
A plethora of forwards were linked with a move to St James’ Park, but by the end of the window, two midfielders and a defender had arrived instead.
And one man who was linked with Newcastle could come back to haunt Steve Bruce this afternoon.

Cenk Tosun was a man in demand this January. The £27million man was destined to leave Everton, with various Premier League clubs taking a look at him.
Newcastle were reportedly one of them, although Bruce felt he wasn’t better than what we already had (Chronicle).
Crystal Palace took the plunge though, signing Tosun on loan until the end of the season.
And he quickly impressed, scoring a lovely header away to Manchester City. So far, that’s his only goal in blue and red.

However, after injury and ineligibility, Tosun is set to return to the side. Crystal Palace’s official website have confirmed that the 28-year-old is available to return for the game against Newcastle.
There will be egg on Bruce’s face if Tosun finds the net during another afternoon where Newcastle’s forwards struggle.
