There hasn’t been much for Newcastle United fans to shout about on the major incomings front this summer other than the arrival of Anthony Elanga.
Newcastle paid £55million to sign Elanga from Nottingham Forest as the Sweden star became the first major signing the club have made in two years.
While Eddie Howe no doubt needs further additions to help prepare the Newcastle United squad for the Champions League campaign to come, Elanga is a brilliant signing.
He registered 11 Premier League assists last season, finishing third behind Jacob Murphy and Mohamed Salah. As such, the thought of adding him into a Newcastle attack already packed with talent is seriously exciting.
For his part, Elanga seems to be loving life on Tyneside and is looking forward to playing alongside Alexander Isak.

Anthony Elanga hopes Alexander Isak stays at Newcastle United
Liverpool want to sign Isak this summer, but there has never been any suggestion that Newcastle would be willing to sell.
Elanga has played alongside Isak for Sweden. Together, they’ve made 12 appearances but are yet to link up for a goal.
Not only is Elanga hoping to continue that partnership at club level next season, he’s also absolutely buzzing to be involved in Howe’s squad.

“You look at this team, I could go through them all. I’ve been here for a week and feel like it’s been forever,” he said (via Keith Downie on social media platform X).
“A player like Alex, he is one of the best strikers in the world and we all (the squad) want to play with him (next season).
“I have played with him at international level so I can say that he’s top. “There is always going to be rumours (about him leaving), but training with him and playing at international level with him has been amazing.”
Newcastle United fans should love Anthony Elanga’s comments
This summer has been full of rejection for Newcastle. Joao Pedro and Liam Delap joined Chelsea, while Bryan Mbeumo and Hugo Ekitike look bound for Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.
All of them were of interest to Newcastle at some stage this summer, making for a largely frustrating time of things in the transfer market thus far.
However, Elanga’s upbeat attitude is a welcome relief. He’s clearly delighted to have joined Newcastle and is looking forward to developing under Howe.
It’s a nice reminder that Newcastle are looking up ahead of next season. With Elanga in the squad, they’ll no doubt be stronger.
