To the shock of everyone, Neymar hasn’t been watching Newcastle in recent years.

This comes after the Samba superstar had a clash with our very own DeAndre Yedlin in a clash between Brazil and USA.

Yedlin, up against Neymar, asked the referee ‘did you not see the World Cup?’ after the most expensive player in the world continued to hit the deck like a young Tom Daley.

Of course, Neymar responded to Yedlin in savage fashion.

“Unfortunately I don’t have much to say,” Neymar said after the 2-0 victory for Brazil.

“He’s the type of player…I don’t know so I have no reason to worry.”

A huge put down from Neymar, but why would he know who Yedlin is?

The American flyer is hardly a household name in world football, despite being capped more than 50 times for his country and appearing in the Premier League.

What Neymar’s been missing

Yedlin signed for Newcastle in 2016, arriving from Tottenham ahead of the Magpies’ Championship campaign.

Since then, Yedlin has been a key player for Newcastle, and has been unchallenged as Rafa Benitez’s first choice right-back.

So if Neymar doesn’t know our number 22, then he mustn’t have been watching the ‘Rafalution’. He missed the last minute 4-3 triumph over Norwich City, Joselu’s first Newcastle goal and the Mikel Merino days.

But more importantly, if Neymar doesn’t know who Yedlin is, then he doesn’t follow him on Instagram. This is the true tragedy, as Neymar has never seen Yedlin’s dog Simba on a skateboard.

Now that Yedlin is on Neymar’s radar, hopefully he’ll be checking out the Magpies, with Arsenal next up for Newcastle.
