Napoli’s Albanian right-back Elseid Hysaj has hinted he may be ready to leave the Serie A side, and is just the type of player a post-takeover Newcastle should be interested in.
With speculation of the Bin Zayed Group’s attempts to buy the Magpies continuing, it is likely that Rafa Benitez – assuming he remains in charge – has had to draw up a second list of targets for this summer’s recruitment drive.

If that is the case, Hysaj is a player likely to be included in the newly created ‘post buy-out’ column.
It is thought that Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on bringing the player to the Premier League, with some of Europe’s other top sides also monitoring the situation.

Any new owners at Newcastle need to sell their vision for the club
While Newcastle cannot promise that to be in a trophy-winning position immediately, the potential new owners and (hopefully) Rafa could sell their vision for the future to the sought-after defender, and tempt him to be part of the project to propel Newcastle towards their first major trophy for 50 years.

There is no doubt a player of Hysaj’s quality would be an upgrade on anyone else we have in either full-back position, and if the prospective new owners have ambitions to take us to the next level, he is the type of player we need to be bringing to St James’ Park.
Let’s just hope that both the takeover and managerial situations have happy conclusions in the coming days and weeks, so things can finally gather pace and move forward.
