Yoane Wissa could have to meet a former Newcastle United player to earn a place at the 2026 World Cup.
Wissa, of course, is yet to play for Newcastle United after suffering a knee injury while playing for DR Congo back in September.
There is a hope, however, that the striker could finally make his return reasonably soon.
Wissa could play for Newcastle in November in what would be a major boost for Eddie Howe.
The 29-year-old will be desperate to feature for his new club, as well as his country.
DR Congo are just one game away from World Cup qualification and have now discovered their fate in March’s intercontinental play-off.

Yoane Wissa could play against Isaac Hayden in World Cup play-off
DR Congo will be heavy favourites to reach the World Cup after being drawn against the winners of New Caledonia vs Jamaica.
They will play the winners of that game in Mexico during the March international break and, should Jamaica win, Wissa will come against a player who only recently left Newcastle.
While former Toon boss Steve McClaren has now resigned from his post as Jamaica manager, Isaac Hayden is one of their more high-profile players and has 12 caps for his country.
Hayden only officially left Newcastle earlier this summer after a series of loan stints and is now playing for QPR.
If Jamaica beat New Caledonia, Hayden vs Wissa awaits.

The other former Newcastle United player helping Yoane Wissa to the World Cup
Wissa isn’t the only Newcastle-related player who could be heading to the World Cup with DR Congo.
Indeed, it was former Toon defender Chancel Mbemba who scored the winning penalty against Nigeria to send his country through to the intercontinental play-offs.
Did Newcastle United make a mistake in paying £50m for Yoane Wissa?
Wissa is desperate to be fit for Newcastle, which in turn helps his World Cup hopes.
Having such a big goal for the end of the season can only be a good thing for Newcastle.
While Wissa is unlikely to need any more motivation, a chance of going to the World Cup cannot be ignored.
