Miguel Almiron has received high praise from his Newcastle United teammate Javier Manquillo following his ‘top performance’ against Manchester United after a ‘tough week’ for the Paraguayan.
Fifa can ban players not released in an international window for a period of five days after the window ends.
Following complaints from the Paraguayan association that Almiron was not released it looked like at one stage that the 27-year-old wouldn’t be able to feature at Old Trafford.
But then the England-based players were cleared to play for their clubs after complaints about their failure to report for international duty were dropped.
Praise for Almiron from Manquillo

Almiron played the full game in the 4-1 defeat to the Red Devils and played a pivotal part in helping Manquillo score his first goal of the club.
Alongside Allan Saint-Maximin, Almiron was one of the few positives to take away from the game for the Newcastle faithful.
He was full of running and waltzed past United players with ease at times, but Manquillo wasn’t surprised by the way Almiron handled the build up to the game or the way he played.
Speaking on Newcastle United’s official website, Manquillo said: “We all know that it was a tough week for Miguel because he didn’t really know whether or not he’d be able to play at the end of it.
“But everybody also knows just what a great professional he is and that he’s always ready and prepared to play, and the other day [Saturday] he showed exactly that and put in a top performance.”
Kick on against Leeds

Almiron hurt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side on the counter-attack, and he will be hoping to find similar space and punish Leeds to the same devastating effect at St. James Park.
The former Atalanta United man could prove to be the matchwinner against Marcelo Bielsa’s side and give the Magpies their much-needed first three points of the season.
