Newcastle United are in for a rough eight weeks.
When Callum Wilson limped off against Southampton, everyone feared the worst.
The striker has been arguably our best player this season, and our one true goal threat.
He’s scored 10 goals, as well as providing five assists.

Without Wilson, who knows where we would be. Sadly, that’s what we’re going to find out in the next six to eight weeks.
Ahead of the game against Chelsea, Steve Bruce confirmed that Wilson had suffered a tear to his hamstring and could miss two months of action.
Wilson could miss seven games
Assuming the worst, eight weeks out from the time of announcement takes us to April 8th.
That means he could miss the following seven games:
- Chelsea (away, 15/02/21)
- Manchester United (away, 21/02/21)
- Wolves (home, 27/02/21)
- West Brom (away, weekend of 06/03/21)
- Aston Villa (home, weekend of 13/03/21)
- Brighton (away, weekend of 20/03/21)
- Tottenham (home, weekend of 03/04/21)
While it is a blow for Wilson’s England hopes, it’s a blessing that his absence coincides with an international break.

Even better, it should come towards the end of his recovery as he looks to regain fitness.
Providing he is out for the full eight weeks, his first game back could be away to Burnley on the weekend of April 10th.
Wilson seems certain to miss two key games, both away to relegation rivals West Brom and Brighton.
In the meantime, the pressure is now on Bruce to find a solution to his striker problem.
