The decision has been made – Steve Bruce is no longer Newcastle United manager.
It’s a moment that fans have waited for, who have watched rotten football for the majority of his tenure.
It’s been a grim few years for the Toon Army, but now things could be on the up.
There are new owners, who are bringing new investment and new ambition. Their vision does not include Bruce.

While the media are going into overdrive with their defence of the 60-year-old, Newcastle fans know exactly what went on. It’s difficult to ignore the noise, but that’s all you can do.
There are always misconceptions when it comes to the Magpies. The mainstream media think they know better.
Those misconceptions won’t go away, no matter who PIF appoint.
They’ve made the right decision though, but when did they actually make it?
Newcastle owners held a board meeting on Monday
According to the Athletic, the new Toon owners officially decided to sack Steve Bruce during a board meeting on Monday, which took place in London.

They clearly weren’t happy with what they witnessed on Sunday and decided a change was needed.
While that decision made sense, it certainly hindered the Magpies on Sunday. Despite a flying start against Spurs, Newcastle quickly fell apart like they’ve done so often during Bruce’s tenure.
Jones will now take interim charge, and there will certainly be pressure from outside NUFC corridors on him to perform.

Then again, it’s a lose-lose situation. If Newcastle win, the press will accuse the players of not playing for Bruce. If they lose, the press will say that the grass isn’t always greener.
But change was necessary. It’s been necessary for a while.
Fans wanted a decision earlier than it came, but at least the decision has now been made.
