Newcastle United are currently going through their worst spell since that takeover was completed and the pressure is mounting on Eddie Howe to turn things around.
Having lost six of their last seven and being knocked out of both the Champions League and Carabao Cup, many believe the next run of games in January will decide whether or not Howe keeps his job.
However, a new report from the i suggests that the Newcastle board aren’t even considering sacking Howe, even if he were to lose every game in January.
Newcastle are happy with Howe’s progression so far
While social media may go into meltdown, those in charge at Newcastle are keeping a level head when it comes to making the big decisions and believe that Howe has shown enough promise to give him more time after January.
Newcastle were in fact way ahead of schedule when they qualified for the Champions League, something that the owners wanted to do in five years time, so they are not expecting miracles immediately.
It remains to be seen whether or not they will be able to back him in the January window or not, but that will surely have a big impact on the amount of pressure they put on him.
The board also clearly understand that Howe has had to endure very difficult circumstances with the lengthy injury list, individual mistakes losing them big games and a poor refereeing decision knocking them out of Europe.

Howe deserves to be given a chance
There is the opinion that Newcastle need to hire a winning manager if they are ever going to succeed, but what people don’t seem to understand is there aren’t many of those out of a job.
Who’s even to say that Howe can’t be the next winning manager? After all, they all have to start their successes somewhere and the 46-year-old is still early on in his managerial career.
Having done so much to transform players like Joelinton and Fabian Schar, build a great relationship with the fans and play a very attractive style of football, Howe has a lot of money in the bank still with the match-going fans.
One big turning point for the fans could be the derby match against Sunderland in less than two weeks, but even a defeat in that would not change the owners minds.
