The relatively poor form among Newcastle United’s summer signings has been a major talking point of late.
While Malick Thiaw and Nick Woltemade have both made huge contributions for Newcastle United this season, the rest of their new faces are yet to make much impact.
Aaron Ramsdale, in his defence, hasn’t been given much of a chance due to Eddie Howe’s trust in Nick Pope. It is not yet fair to judge Yoane Wissa, amid his injury problems.
Jacob Ramsey has struggled with injury but hasn’t really convinced since an impressive cameo against Liverpool on his debut. Anthony Elanga, meanwhile, is yet to prove worth the huge money paid for him.
This has been a dreadful season for Howe’s side thus far and Newcastle’s six major summer signings are now under the microscope.
Still, there is a belief behind the scenes that they will kick on.

Newcastle United believe their new signings will eventually come good
According to The Daily Telegraph, sources close to the Newcastle camp have stressed that their new signings will improve.
While this has been a difficult start for almost all of them, perhaps only Thiaw aside, there is said to be a confidence that their quality will eventually come through.
Howe hasn’t had much time on the training ground due to the relentless nature of Newcastle’s fixture list, which makes settling in even more difficult.
| Player | Games | Starts | Minutes Played |
| Nick Woltemade | 17 | 12 | 1,207 |
| Malick Thiaw | 14 | 12 | 1,110 |
| Anthony Elanga | 17 | 8 | 736 |
| Jacob Ramsey | 8 | 3 | 340 |
| Aaron Ramsdale | 3 | 2 | 193 |
| Yoane Wissa | 0 | 0 | 0 |
The two players that prove Newcastle United’s internal theory on new signings correct
Players have often taken time to bed in under the Newcastle United manager, such are the level of his demands.
Bruno Guimaraes didn’t initially get into the team when he arrived from Lyon in January 2022 but has established himself as a leading Premier League midfielder since.
Sandro Tonali and Alexander Isak, while talented, were not the players they are now before they worked with Howe.
The two most obvious examples, however, are Lewis Hall and Anthony Gordon. Both of those players took months to fully settle before becoming key players for the club.
Howe is brilliant at improving players at Newcastle and though he’s got a lot of work on his hands, there are plenty of reasons to believe in their internal confidence.
