Newcastle United fans not only took pleasure in the Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa but also in serenading Jhon Duran off the pitch.
It’s been a great fortnight for Newcastle United and the festive celebrations continued on Boxing Day with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
Eddie Howe’s side took a potentially tricky fixture and made it a Christmas walk in the park as Anthony Gordon’s stunning curler put them ahead after 90 seconds.
Villa did fight their way back into the game but Jhon Duran’s red card for standing on Fabian Schar ended any hope of a comeback.
The Magpies doubled their lead after the break as Alexander Isak’s fine scoring form continued with a five-yard tap in.
Bruno Guimaraes then saw a goal disallowed as Newcastle turned the screw and they got the third goal their performance deserved in the final stages when Joelinton scored a beauty of his own.
Newcastle fans were unsurprisingly in good spirits and they certainly enjoyed having fun at Duran’s expense.

Furios Jhon Duran mocked by Newcastle fans after red card
Duran, perhaps justifiably, was furious with his pivotal red card and made a show of discontent as he headed back to the changing rooms.
After already arguing with the referee, he continued to voice his frustrations with the fourth official as he left the pitch and then booted away a water bottle that was in his path.
The watching crowd cheered with delight before chanting ‘who are ya?’ at the beleaguered striker.
Jhon Duran unfortunate to be sent off against Newcastle
No Newcastle fan will be complaining and they were already in the lead at that point but they got a big slice of luck with Duran’s red card.
Schar had done very well to race back and steal the ball off Duran’s toes, but his sliding challenge upended the striker as he was running at full pelt.
It’s unfortunate that he twice caught Schar with his studs but short of pulling off a split manoeuvre while falling over there isn’t much he could have done to avoid the centre-back at his feet.
Yet, when you’re playing so well you create your own luck.
