Newcastle United have a big decision to make regarding Garang Kuol and his future.

The teenager made his Newcastle United debut at the end of the season, with Garang Kuol featuring in both of the Magpies’ friendlies in Australia.

Kuol’s inclusion in the post-season trip was merely for commercial purposes, on the back of a second gruelling loan spell away from St James’ Park. After a disappointing loan with Hearts, his time in Volendam was potentially even worse.

It has resulted in the hype dying down, while it was even suggested that the Magpies could cash in on the forward. Eddie Howe does not think he is ready for first-team football on Tyneside, which is not a surprise.

Now a move away from Newcastle is on the cards, but it does not sound like it will be a permanent one.

What is next for Garang Kuol and Newcastle United

After two worrying loans and two friendly appearances, Newcastle United appear to have decided what they are going to do next with Garang Kuol.

It looks like another temporary exit is coming Kuol’s way, with the Chronicle reporting that that the club’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson has been talking to clubs in Europe about taking the 19-year-old on loan.

They add that Kuol is expected to be part of first-team training when pre-season kicks off, but that may change if the Magpies are able to find a suitor for the young Aussie.

Newcastle face tough Kuol call

It is positive to hear that Newcastle are going to loan Kuol out again, rather than sell him.

Firstly, they probably would not make much money on him given his limited experience. Secondly, he needs a loan spell that is more settled.

That was the hope at Volendam, but changes behind the scenes resulted in Kuol losing his place in the side. He suddenly did not suit the system, which meant that his second loan spell would be just as miserable as the first.

Given what has happened so far, it is vital that this loan goes well for Kuol. That is why Newcastle will be very careful in choosing where they send the attacker.

Another Newcastle teenager set to be sold

Talk of Kuol being loaned out again comes at a time when Yankuba Minteh‘s Newcastle United career looks set to be coming to an end.

The Gambia international was also on loan in the Eredivisie last season, but his move there was much more beneficial. Minteh was outstanding for Feyenoord, and now it looks like he is going to get Newcastle out of a sticky financial situation.

The Magpies have decided that they need to cash in on Minteh, with the club needing to sell someone before June 30th. That honour looks set to go to Minteh, with his performances for Feyenoord meaning they can get a decent fee for a player they only bought 12 months ago.

That may come into Newcastle’s thinking with Kuol, as they will be in a better position to get decent money for him next year if he finally excels out on loan. Like Minteh, that could allow Newcastle to cash in on Kuol and help them with their PSR situation.

Alternatively, he could shine and prove that he really has a future at St James’ Park. That is why this is a very important season for Garang Kuol.
