Sven Botman is yet to score a goal for Newcastle United, and he believes that Wembley is the perfect place to do just that.
Newcastle face Manchester United in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, with Sven Botman expected to start at the heart of defence for the Magpies.
He is enjoying a brilliant start to his Toon career, having joined the club in the summer from Lille for £35million.
Botman is part of the Premier League’s toughest defence, and has formed a brilliant partnership with Fabian Schar. They will both have to be at their best on Sunday, especially with the Red Devils boasting an in-form Marcus Rashford.
The 23-year-old will be trying to stop Rashford from scoring, but he also has thoughts about finding the net himself.

Sven Botman thinks it’s ‘about time’ to score first Newcastle goal
Ahead of the game, Newcastle United have released Botman’s interview from the matchday programme for the Liverpool match.
He spoke about a conversation he had with captain Jamaal Lascelles.
“I spoke yesterday with (Jamaal) Lascelles and he said, ‘listen, if you score at Wembley, you’re the guy’,” Botman said.
“I know it’s about time to get a goal.”
Carabao Cup final is the perfect time for Botman to find the net
While Botman’s main job is to stop the opposition from scoring, it is a slight surprise that he hasn’t found the net since joining Eddie Howe’s side.
Given the size of him, you would expect the Dutchman to be a huge threat from set pieces. However, he is yet to score his first goal for his new club.
He has come close on occasions. The 4-1 away win to Fulham almost saw Botman power home a header. He looped an effort towards goal, only for Bernd Leno to produce an incredible save. The German stopper directed Botman’s header onto the post, only for Sean Longstaff to tap in the rebound.
Botman has scored seven goals in his professional career so far. If number eight can come in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley then he will be ‘the guy’ as Lascelles says.
