After a successful loan spell, Dwight Gayle won’t be back at West Brom next season.
The striker scored 24 goals for the Baggies, arriving last summer to allow Salomon Rondon to become a Magpie. Both strikers did well at their new clubs, but now it looks like neither will be making their loan moves permanent.

Rondon’s move to Newcastle is in doubt, with managerial contract talks rumbling on while interest in the striker mounts from the likes of Wolves.
And as for Gayle, West Brom’s technical director Luke Dowling has ended their hopes of a deal.
In an interview with BBC West Midlands, Dowling confirmed that the Baggies wouldn’t be able to afford a permanent deal because the striker is on a Premier League contract. After letting West Brom fans know that their top scorer won’t be returning, he then asked them to the club.
So that’s another set of fans who are upset with their owners.

The news hasn’t gone down well with West Brom fans, who narrowly missed out on promotion. They lost in the playoff semi-final to Aston Villa on penalties, with Gayle missing the second leg due to suspension.
Had he not been sent off, the Baggies may have won the tie and gone to the final at Wembley. And if they had been promoted, then maybe a permanent deal would have been possible.
But those are just ifs and maybes. The reality is that West Brom won’t be signing Gayle, and now we need to find a new suitor for the striker.
Considering how many goals he has scored in the Championship, surely someone in the second tier will take a punt. As for our Rondon hopes, they still hinge on the Ashley/Benitez showdown, not Gayle.

West Brom fans are furious that Gayle won’t be back next season
I cannot believe the decision not to sign Gayle. I understand letting others leave but this baffles me. Gayle guaranteed us 20-25 goals next season and was loved by the fans. It’s going to be a hell of a long summer I can tell you. The Hawthorns needs a revolving door 🤦♂️ #wba

What a joke. So selling rondon and releasing players doesn’t pay his salary ! Joke. Absolute joke. Mid table championship battle next season it seems till we get a new owner and board in.

Disappointed Gayle won’t be back. Had a fantastic year with us, gave us plenty of memories. All the best to him for the future. #WBA

Another thing about Gayle – personally I can’t see why Newcastle would sell him? He’s shown this season that he’s easily good enough to be at least a squad player for a mid table PL side. Think they’d be mad to get rid personally #wba #nufc
