David Seaman spoke about the FA Cup third round on the latest episode of his podcast Seaman Says. He discussed the possibility of the FA Cup draw being seeded, and explained why he is most looking forward to Sunderland vs Newcastle on Saturday.

“I think that’s a great idea [FA Cup being seeded],” he said.

“And if I’m honest I’m more looking forward to watching the Sunderland vs Newcastle game than the Arsenal vs Liverpool game. Which is weird but that’s the FA Cup. That’s what it should be like.

“And the rivalry between Sunderland and Newcastle is legendary, I’m looking forward to seeing that.”

The Tyne-Wear derby is the most mouth-watering FA Cup tie this weekend. Sure, Arsenal vs Liverpool pits two Premier League title challengers against each other, but this is different.

Local pride is on the line. Bragging rights. As Seaman says, the rivalry between the two clubs is legendary, and it is special to see them going head-to-head for the first time in almost eight years.
