It didn’t take Achraf Lazaar long to find a new club.
Lazaar left Newcastle on February 4th, and just a week later he’s no longer a free agent.
The Moroccan international has officially been unveiled as a Watford player. He’s signed a short-term deal with the Hornets, with a view to a further year.

His time at Newcastle was a disaster, so it won’t take much for him to look better in a Watford shirt.
It might even lead Lazaar back to the Premier League, with Watford challenging for promotion.
That’s where things might get tricky for the 29-year-old, as he’s never played a single minute of Premier League football.
He’ll go down as one of Rafa Benitez’s worst signings as Newcastle boss, but here’s hoping that he can rebuild his career down south.
Although it is somewhat comical that we couldn’t get Lazaar off the books for ages, then as soon as he’s finally released he finds a new employer straight away…
He becomes the third former Toon player to sign for Watford this year. They have also added Rob Elliot and Dan Gosling to their squad.

Considering his limited football in recent years, it’s no surprise that Watford fans aren’t getting too giddy about their latest acquisition.
However, to say some of his new fans are excited by his arrival would be a bit of a lie.
