Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes was hailed after Brazil confirmed their qualification for next summer’s World Cup.
It has been a bleak period for Brazilian football in recent years, with the Newcastle United midfielder playing in a sub-par version of the Selecao.
As such, one of football’s most storied powerhouses have turned to outside help. Indeed, Brazil have appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their first sole foreign manager, and the Italian will lead them into the World Cup next summer.
The Brazilian media praised Guimaraes following his country’s win over Paraguay, the result that confirmed their qualification.
On social media, the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Vinicius Junior were also impressed with Guimaraes.

After the game, the Newcastle captain took to social media.
He celebrated the victory with an Instagram post captioned: “World cup here we come!!!! Very happy. Let’s go Brazil.”
Real Madrid star Vinicius responded with the word: “Vamo”, which translates as ‘Let’s go’.
Elsewhere, West Ham’s Paqueta – who has previously been linked with Newcastle – wrote: “You played hard buddy.”

Guimaraes was brilliant for Newcastle in the 2024/25 season and is looking like a key player under Ancelotti already.
He had 84 touches in the game, playing a key pass and winning ten of his 14 attempted ground duels. Defensively, he contributed with four tackles and an interception.

This Brazil side clearly have a long way to go before they can be considered a vintage team in their history, but Ancelotti will hope to work his magic. There have been few managers as successful as him in the history of the sport.
Guimaraes is looking like a key player under one of the world’s greatest managers. If he can take his Newcastle form into the World Cup, Ancelotti will have a tireless midfielder capable of brilliant things on the ball at his disposal.
