Newcastle United have released footage of Thursday’s training session, where Kieran Trippier was in attendance.
The club had previously posted images from training on Wednesday, but the 32-year-old was nowhere to be seen. That created a sense of panic, with the Magpies facing some important games in the coming weeks.
However, now we have been given a glimpse into what went on yesterday, and it appears that Trippier is fine.
A video from the session has been uploaded to the club’s official YouTube channel, with Trippier and co being put through their paces by Eddie Howe and his coaching staff.
Loris Karius was also involved, having agreed a deal to extend his stay at St James’ Park. Elsewhere, Elliot Anderson was present, having missed the win over Fulham due to injury. Hopefully he is fit to return to the bench against Crystal Palace.
It is an important fixture for the Magpies after Spurs’ defeat on Thursday. A win at Selhurst Park would allow Newcastle to open up an eight-point gap between themselves and Antonio Conte’s side, who aren’t in action again until Monday.
Howe will have to make a difficult decision with his side. He might be tempted to rest players ahead of the Carabao Cup semi final, but he will also be keen to continue the push towards Champions League qualification.
Kieran Trippier will surely start on Saturday evening
Seeing Trippier involved in training is a huge relief for Newcastle fans. He had picked up a slight knock in the win over Fulham, suffering a cut on his foot after a challenge with Bobby Decordova-Reid that saw him concede a penalty.

But with Trippier taking part in Thursday’s session, he is surely in contention to start again on Saturday night. When asked if the defender was going to be fit to face Palace, Howe said: Fingers crossed, yeah.”
While rotation might be on the agenda, Howe will surely stick with the back five that has played so well in recent weeks.
Newcastle have kept five Premier League clean sheets in a row, and will fancy their chances of making it six – providing Trippier is in the team.
The England international has probably been Newcastle’s most consistent player this season, which is even more impressive considering the incredible standard he has been playing at. He has been pivotal in defence and attack, with Howe describing his delivery as ‘fantastic‘ earlier in the season. Trippier currently has six assists in all competitions.
He will surely start on Saturday, before leading the Magpies out again on Tuesday night for the League Cup semi final first leg against Southampton.
