Newcastle fans have been expressing their regrets over the treatment of Valentino Lazaro after he netted a spectacular scorpion kick over the weekend.
The Austrian made headlines across the world for his incredible effort, and the Newcastle Echo asked fans whether or not the Magpies should have signed him permanently.
Some supporters were immediately in favour of the idea, and while others weren’t necessarily on board with the idea that he should have been signed permanently, they do agree that he was mishandled.
As usual, Steve Bruce was a scapegoat for a number of supporters, with more than one fan claiming that we didn’t see the best of Lazaro at St James’ Park due to Bruce’s management.
Whether that is true or not remains to be seen, one wondergoal doesn’t immediately make you a world-beater, but the fact that he’s contracted to Inter Milan does indicate that he may have a bit more quality than what we saw at Newcastle.

Unfortunately, we may never see the best of Lazaro at Newcastle, the Austrian is now plying his trade elsewhere, and by all accounts he is flourishing.
While you can never write anything off in football, it seems highly unlikely that we’ll ever see the 24-year-old playing for United ever again, much to the displeasure of these supporters.
Of course

Under a manager that knows how to manage attacking talent yes but we have Bruce so probably just right he went elsewhere

He should of been given more playing time to really assess that, he looked decent when he played.

Yes we should have. Lazaro was underused by Bruce because he didn’t know what to do with him… Much like most of the players that we have.
