The Premier League boasts some of the best players on the planet, but it is Newcastle United who currently have the most creative.

You would usually expect Kevin de Bruyne to create the most chances in the Premier League, but the Manchester City superstar is out injured.

That means that someone else is top of the pile, and it is none other than Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier.

Newcastle star Kieran Trippier is top of Premier League stat

That is according to a new graphic shared on the Premier League’s official Instagram account, which shows that Trippier has created more chances than any other player so far this season.

From the opening eight games of the season, Trippier has created 27 chances.

That is a spectacular tally, and it is even more impressive when you remember that he is doing it from right-back.

Of those 27 chances Trippier has created, five have ended in goals. The 33-year-old has got five Premier League assists to his name so far, three of which came in the 8-0 drubbing of Sheffield United.

Trippier is only two shy of his total tally from last season, which just sums up what an incredible start to the season he has had. Not bad for £12million

Former Newcastle target James Maddison is just behind Trippier

The England international sits top of the tree ahead of James Maddison, who was apparently desperate to sign for Newcastle this summer.

Instead, it was Tottenham who were able to secure his signature, and he is enjoying a spectacular start to life at Spurs. He has created 25 chances in the Premier League so far, two shy of Trippier’s tally.

Behind Maddison is Bruno Fernandes on 22, then it’s Dejan Kulusevski and Luton Town’s Alfie Doughty tied on 21.

They have all enjoyed strong starts to the season, creating plenty of chances for their teammates. However, they have not been able to topple Trippier, who continues to prove why he is so vital to Newcastle United.
