Newcastle United are getting reported for appointing a manager that none of the fans wanted. That’s according to Sheffield Wednesday, who released another statement on the Steve Bruce situation on Monday night.

“Following Newcastle United’s announcement on 17 July 2019 of its appointment of former Sheffield Wednesday staff Steve Bruce, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, the Club confirms that it has today reported Newcastle United’s conduct to the Premier League,” the statement reads.

“As the Premier League will now initiate and carry out investigations into the Club’s allegations, the Club will not be commenting further on this matter whilst such investigations are ongoing.”

The Owls are true to their word. After Bruce was appointed as Newcastle manager last week, they released a statement saying they would be seeking legal advice. And that seems to be exactly what they’ve done.

You can understand why Sheffield Wednesday are so annoyed. Newcastle poached their manager, leaving them in disarray ahead of the new season. Bruce hardly left them in a dignified manner too, taking two members of staff with him as well.

The whole situation has been a shambles. It’s hard to find anyone that will be happy. Newcastle fans didn’t want Bruce. Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley have an extra bit of grief to deal with. Sheffield Wednesday now need to find a replacement with the new season coming in less than two weeks. And Owls fans are fuming that the man they trusted has walked out.

So with news that Wednesday have reported the Magpies to the Premier League for their conduct, Newcastle fans have given their support to the Championship outfit.
