Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has been named the club’s Player of the Year.

It is an announcement that will not surprise too many, with the 29-year-old having scored some crucial goals this season.

Wilson, who signed last year for £20 million, managed 12 goals in 26 Premier League outings.

Had it not been for injuries, he could well have been mixing it with the division’s top scorers.

The star is already a hugely popular figure at the club.

Fans watching from home have regularly praised him on social media for his performances.

He has led from the front, and supporters can’t wait to see him live.

Unfortunately fans will have to wait a little longer to see him scoring goals in black and white in the flesh, as he nurses another hamstring issue.
