It has emerged that one Newcastle United star has become immensely rich since retiring from football and is now worth a whopping £4.3 billion.

Top-end footballers make a pretty penny in their career, more than enough to ensure their families will thrive and enjoy life for generations to come.

Newcastle United pay their players very well, with captain Bruno Guimaraes the club’s highest earner.

However, even footballers’ millions upon millions that are unattainable for the vast majority of the world pale in comparison to £4.3 billion.

That’s how much former Newcastle strike Louis Saha is now worth and here is how he did it.

Louis Saha net worth

Though football is a high-earning career, it is a short one and many professionals look to secure their next steps before their playing days come to an end.

Management, coaching and punditry are well-trodden paths but even the most renowned in those fields – like Pep Guardiola or Gary Neville – have not enjoyed as much financial success as Saha.

The Frenchman enjoyed a well-travelled career that saw him win several trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League at Manchester United.

His first foray into English football came in a brief loan spell at St. James’ Park in 1999, in which he scored twice in 12 games, before playing for Fulham, Man United, Everton, Tottenham, Sunderland and finally Lazio.

But it was after his retirement in 2013, when he founded the business AxisStars, that his life went in a completely new direction.

Founded in partnership with Katie Hamer, AxisStars is an app service that lends support to athletes, entertainers and other figures in the public eye, especially regarding life after retirement.

The AxisStars official website states: “The AxisStars App helps Talent to boost their awareness and confidence to be mentally prepared for any transition they have in mind.”

The company claims that over 700 pro athletes, entertainers and artists are already members, including another former Premier League striker in Dimitar Berbatov.

The company is now worth a humungous £4.3 billion, according to The Sun, netting Saha an incredible post-career fortune and making him one of the richest footballers ever beyond even Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.

In fact, that’s also more than Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan’s personal net worth, which is reported by The Sun to be just £28 million, though he manages PIF assets of over $930 billion.

Louis Saha says he has surpassed his football career

In an interview with The Guardian in 2017, Saha explained his work and admitted it has surpassed his football career.

He said: “I still get asked for advice by different people on a daily basis.

“For instance, my agent called me to say he had a talented French footballer who he wants to bring to England, and asked me for advice on how to create a tailor-made training programme.

“I put him in touch with people I used to work with.

“This kind of player could join Axis as he can then search for a personal coach in his region. It is a hard process but it’s so rewarding, because if I can help 100,000 people, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”
