According to reports in Greece, Rolando Aarons is the subject of interest from Panathinaikos.

Everything makes sense so far. Then when you consider that former Toon hero Nikos Dabizas is the technical director at Panathinaikos, the obscure link begins to make even more sense.
But the fee reported is the issue. SDNA claim that Newcastle will ask for a fee of between six and seven million euros, which means the Magpies could potentially want just over £6million for the forgotten winger.

£6million for Aarons? You’re having a laugh
Aarons has a contract at St James’ Park until 2021, but it’s clear he has no future with the club. He’s had loan spell after loan spell, but there’s surely no way back to the Newcastle first-team for a player who was once tipped for the top by fans.
We’re right to try and cash in, but £6million is ridiculous. We’re pricing ourselves out of a deal.

Why would a team like Panathinaikos, who I can’t imagine are too flush with cash, pay £6million for a player going into the final year of his contract whose career has been blighted by injury?
So either the report is a bit wide of the mark, or Newcastle are asking for far too much for a player who is no longer needed. Take your pick.
