The next step of the Newcastle United takeover saga is the CAT case, but when is the jurisdiction hearing set to take place?

Mike Ashley’s first legal challenge against the Premier League was arbitration, which was set to take place this summer. However that has now been delayed and won’t take place until early 2022.

His other legal challenge is the anti-competition case, which is yet to be given the go ahead.

The case was filed in April, with the claim being made public in May.

Since then, the Premier League have been contesting the challenge, as they look to have the case thrown out.

They have been granted multiple delays as they compile their own evidence, but a jurisdiction date was set on July 27th. The initial date was set as September 27th 2021.

When is the Newcastle CAT hearing?

The hearing will now take place on September 29th at 10.30am.

Multiple outlets have reported this news today (20/09/21), but the change in date actually occurred more than a month ago.

Newcastle United fan twitter account @NUFC360 stated on July 30th that the hearing was set to take place two days later than planned, and the news was retweeted by Athletic reporter Chris Waugh.

It is unknown why there has been a flurry of reports on the date of the CAT hearing. But regardless, it is set to take place in nine days time.

Once the hearing has taken place, hopefully there won’t be a long wait to find out whether or not the case will go ahead.

Newcastle United fans are desperate for this takeover, with Ashley’s latest neglect leaving the club in the relegation zone after five Premier League games.
