‘Symbolic’: Local media rave about Newcastle-owned Elliot Anderson

Newcastle United loanee Elliot Anderson continues to shine at Bristol Rovers. Last weekend they won 3-0 against Harrogate Town. They move into 8th position in League Two and are an outside shout for making a push for promotion.

Anderson found himself once again on the scoresheet. He scored a very well taken individual goal that gave Rovers their second just 39 minutes in.

That’s now the youngster’s second goal for Bristol Rovers. The quality he has shown is proving he is well above League Two, he’s becoming quite the prospect for Newcastle.

Anderson has ‘zero chance’ of playing League Two football, he’s been quite the loan signing for Bristol Rovers

Writing for BristolLive, columnist Benji Deane reflected on Rovers’ emphatic win. He cited Anderson as one of the stand players since his arrival.

He wrote, “Elliot Anderson is another that is symbolic of the individual quality that wins us games. His slaloming run and finish was Premier League-quality and there is zero chance of him playing at League Two level again.”

Some Newcastle fans have seen glimpses of his quality. He’s impressed at youth level and has gotten called up for Scotland at youth level, including very recently.

He made his debut in the FA Cup against Arsenal in 2021. Additionally, the 19-year-old played against Arsenal again making his Premier League debut not long after.

Anderson has also been praised by Bristol Rovers boss Joey Barton. The ex-Toon man has praised the youngster since his first training session with the club.

He was set to join Championship side Luton Town on loan per The Athletic. However, the deal never materialised and eventually ended up heading to Bristol instead.

It’s been an exciting loan spell thus far for Elliot Anderson. Hopefully next season he will have proven he is ready for another move to either League One or the Championship. He’s helped Rovers surge up the table.

At such a young age he certainly has the talent. Hopefully, this is just the start of an exciting career on Tyneside for the youngster.
