Steve Bruce wishes all his Newcastle players were like Miguel Almiron

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has claimed his job would be easier if all his players were just like Miguel Almiron.

The 60-year-old was speaking at his press conference ahead of the Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Newcastle have been much improved in recent games, and have taken six points from the last nine available.

The Magpies have shown more intent in their new formation, but the loss of Callum Wilson to injury will be a big blow going forwards.

It is on others to step up in his absence, and many will look to Almiron to lead the charge.

The Paraguay international got two goals in the 3-1 win over Southampton, and is beginning to prove himself at St. James’ Park.

Not only is he showing his on-the-ball quality, he is also working hard and Bruce has talked up the number 24 ahead of tonight’s clash.

He said (quoted by the Chronicle): “I think Miggy’s played very well of late. As I’ve said many times now, my job would be easier if everyone was like Almiron.

“He’s an absolute delight to coach and a delight to manage. He works hard, get stuck into it, and is a great pro and a great lad.

“He deserves everything that comes his way and the change in system over the last few weeks has certainly benefited Almiron, that’s for sure, because he’s been very good of late. Let’s hope that can continue.”

Time for Almiron to really shine

With Wilson unavailable for the next couple of months, Almiron really has to step up, as do Ryan Fraser and Allan Saint-Maximin.

To avoid getting drawn into a relegation battle, it is paramount for £42,000-a-week star Almiron (Spotrac) to be on top form.

Fulham are looking somewhat resurgent which is a worry for the Magpies, so the South American has the chance to become a hero by leading the club away from danger.
