Steve Bruce has been speaking to the media ahead of Newcastle’s clash against Manchester United tomorrow, and he’s been discussing Allan Saint-Maximin after the forward signed a new six-year contract.
The Frenchman only arrived from OGC Nice last summer in a £16.5 million deal, but he’s put pen to paper on fresh terms involving a pay rise which will keep him on Tyneside until 2026.
The Daily Mail say that the attacker’s new deal will put him in line with the club’s top earners, such as Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles, who earn around £70,000-a-week.
His last outing before being handed fresh terms was a scintillating one, scoring a goal and assisting another in a 3-1 win over Burnley.
When speaking about the Frenchman, The Evening Express quote Bruce as saying: ‘He does things which are just off the radar. I wish we had it on tape – he scored a goal in training the other day which was just ludicrous how good it was, I think we all applauded.’
That isn’t a first for the former Monaco winger.

He posted a video on his official Twitter account in September 2019 of him running through a hoard of players with the ball stuck to his boot like glue, before burying a finish into the far corner.
The St James’ Park faithful know all about what Saint-Maximin can do with a ball at his feet, and we should all be looking forward to many more years of the 23-year-old’s flamboyancy.
