Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has been branded as a ‘disgrace’ for his reaction to being substituted during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford.
Gordon was brought on at half time for Jacob Murphy, but did not complete the game. With just moments left before the final whistle, Eddie Howe took him off and brought on Matt Ritchie.
The decision angered the 22-year-old, who reacted furiously to being taken off. After the game, Howe stated that he had no problems with Gordon, and called on him to control his emotions better in the future.
Micah Richards tipped the winger to put the incident behind him, much like he did at the beginning of his career when he was involved in a similar altercation with Stuart Pearce.
However, pundit Stan Collymore has been far less measured in his reaction.

Stan Collymore calls Anthony Gordon a ‘disgrace’
The former Nottingham Forest and Liverpool player has spoke to Caught Offside about Gordon’s actions, and he is furious with the youngster.
“I, like many of you, have seen the clip of Anthony Gordon clashing with Eddie Howe after he was substituted off against Brentford on Saturday,” he said.
“What on earth is he doing?! He has done absolutely nothing to warrant a big move to Newcastle. Let’s be real here, the only reason he got that transfer is because he’s English, had five good games in an Everton shirt and the Toffees are skint.
“For Gordon to come off the pitch and take the time to walk over to the manager and have a go at him was an absolute disgrace.
“Every manager in the world would have seen that clip and will now be wondering if Gordon is a bad egg. Regardless of if he spends the rest of his career at St James’ Park or not, his actions last weekend aren’t going to do his reputation any good and will certainly damage his chances of representing England in the future.
“To treat a down-to-earth, decent guy like Howe that way, and during a time when everyone associated with Newcastle are buzzing as well, was just such a bad decision from the kid. He needs to issue a public apology as soon as possible and beg his manager for forgiveness because he just can’t do what he did and expect to come out the other side looking good. If he continues with this level of disrespect, Newcastle will move on from him very quickly.”

The latest ridiculous Newcastle take from Collymore
It is a ridiculous reaction from Collymore, who has a habit of saying stupid things about Newcastle this season. He has tipped Eddie Howe to get the sack, and suggested that Alexander Isak should be sold.
Now he thinks Gordon could eventually be on his way out, despite barely playing for his new club since his January arrival – which Collymore thinks was only because Gordon is English…
The 52-year-old is talking absolute nonsense, and is blowing a minor incident way out of proportion.
Was it good to see? No. But is it the end of the world? Absolutely not.
Gordon is a passionate player, and has endured a frustrating start to his Newcastle career. He has only started once so far, and will have hoped to make a stronger impression after two months on Tyneside. But he is a player with huge potential, and someone who is going to have a strong career at St James’ Park.
The way Collymore has reacted is probably more embarrassing than the actual incident.
