Newcastle and Spurs fans are united in their disappointment after reports from Italy yesterday claimed Spurs have made an offer for Newcastle’s Ayoze Perez.

CalcioNapoli24 reported that Spurs are just ‘one step away’ from signing the forward after making an offer of €28m.

The report states that Mauricio Pochettino also tried to sign the forward in 2016, and that he sees Perez as a replacement for Erik Lamela.

The news comes after Perez was previously linked with Napoli, this report seemingly ending those rumours.

Perez scored 12 league goals for The Mags this season, including eight goals in his final 9 games.

It was his best return yet in the league and a season of personal progress for the 25 year old.

He was criticised in the past for his lack of attacking threat and decision making.

But love him or hate him, the Spaniard has added goals to his game.

This was best shown in Newcastle’s 3-1 victory over Southampton.

Perez scored all three goals for the Toon that day, his first hat-trick for Newcastle.

It was only a matter of time before other clubs came calling, and according to the report there’s been quite a few.

CalcioNapoli24 claim that Arsenal, Valencia and Atletico Madrid have all recently tried to sign the striker, but that it’s Spurs leading the charge.

However some Spurs fans aren’t too pleased to be winning this particular race.

After reaching a surprise Champions league final, Spurs fans want to build on their squad.

Some are questioning whether signing Perez would be a step back, rather than a step forward.

As for Newcastle fans, most have questioned if the report is even true.
