The club president of Spezia Stefano Chisoli has spoken of his delight at keeping striker M’bala Nzola out of the clutches of Newcastle United.
The Magpies were linked with a move for the 24-year-old in January (Calciomercato), with the star showing some excellent form over in the Italian top-flight at the time.

Nzola has scored nine goals in 17 appearances so far, but has recently seen the goals dry up a little following some injury struggles.
He missed six games across January and February, and hasn’t scored in the four appearances he’s made since his return to fitness.
Despite his momentum being interrupted, Chisoli is extremely pleased to have kept hold of the Angolan striker.

He told Radio Kiss Kiss (via SPORTface.it): “M’Bala Nzola is a very important player, we are happy to have him with us and his value is recognised by all.
“There aren’t many players like him around. He’s very strong.”
An approach from Newcastle in January was ultimately never made, and the Magpies have scored just seven goals since the winter window closed – three of those coming in one game against Southampton.
Nzola worth keeping an eye on
If Newcastle can survive relegation, Nzola could be worth looking into by the Magpies.

Chisoli’s comments suggest the star is a real handful, and Newcastle could benefit from having someone like that in their side.
Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll will both be departing the club as free agents this summer as things currently stand, so preparations need to be start now.
