According to the Sun, Rafa Benitez might not be the only person leaving Newcastle this summer.

The Spaniard’s departure has rocked the club’s supporters, and sadly there’s no reason to expect things to get better any time soon. With the new season just over six weeks away, we have no manager and have brought in no players.

And to make matters worse, there are a selection of players who might see their future away from St James’ Park.

The Sun have a list of players who are now open to leaving after it was confirmed that Benitez would not be extending his contract. The players named are: Ayoze Perez, Federico Fernandez, Fabian Schar, Martin Dubravka and Isaac Hayden.

Let’s be honest, Hayden is surely leaving regardless of the manager. And we’d have done well to keep hold of Perez. The two biggest losses would be Schar and Dubravka.

The pair have been outstanding for the Magpies, both arriving for bargain fees under Benitez. Schar was crucial last season, while Dubravka quickly established himself as the club’s number one after arriving in January 2018.

This is a huge issue with Benitez leaving. Players came to Newcastle because they wanted to play for Benitez. Now he’s gone, why should they stay?

We had a tight-knit squad, but there’s every reason to believe that Rafa’s departure could see several key players follow him out of the exit door.
