Some Newcastle United fans are now pushing for Jacob Murphy to get a new contract at St. James’ Park.
The English winger has emerged as a key player for the Toon this season,
He hasn’t always been a starter, but has proven a useful player for Steve Bruce at times this term.
So far the £25,000-a-week star (Spotrac) has made 23 appearances for the club this term across all competitions.
18 of those have come in the Premier League – nine of which have been starts.
Against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, Murphy operated as a right wing-back again, and really held his own in a position he is definitely getting more used to now.
Fans thought he played really well against Jose Mourinho’s side, and were impressed with his work ethic.
As things currently stand, Murphy, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and half of 2018/19 with West Bromwich Albion, is out of contract this summer (via Transfermarkt).
