Newcastle United supporters have been reacting on Twitter, with the club releasing pictures of Javier Manquillo back in training.
The images suggest the Spaniard’s recovery is going well, with it being claimed that he had suffered ankle ligament damage during the win over Southampton.
He was supposed to be out of action for around the amount of time as Callum Wilson and Fabian Schar (six to eight weeks).
Bruce said recently (via the Northern Echo): “Manquillo did his ankle ligaments as well, and he could be the same length of time. It’s going to be at least six weeks for him too.”
The manager added that it would probably be April before the trio would be welcomed back.
But today, Manquillo was pictured back in training in what is a real boost for the Magpies.
It appears the 26-year-old is either on or ahead of schedule.
It’s not clear whether he actually participated in a full session along with all his teammates, but he at least looks to be back on the grass which is encouraging.
Some fans have given positive reactions to the images of Manquillo, with many keen to see him back as soon as possible due to the poor form of Emil Krafth in recent weeks:
That’s is a great view! Glad it wasn’t as bad as we thought! 👍🏽
