Some Newcastle United fans are already looking ahead to the club’s next Premier League game against Chelsea – and some people are feeling optimistic.
The Magpies returned to winning ways on Saturday, beating Southampton 3-2 in a thrilling game at St. James’ Park.
It was a huge win after slipping up against Crystal Palace, and 10 points separate Steve Bruce’s side and 18th-placed Fulham, although the Cottagers do have a game in hand.
Performances have been improving in recent weeks, with the players responding positively to the system change.
Up next is Chelsea who are under a new manager in Thomas Tuchel, and the German has overseen two victories and a draw in his first three games.
The Blues are heading in the right direction, but their performance against bottom-of-the-league Sheffield United last night has got some Newcastle fans talking.
They ran out 2-1 winners in the end, but conceded a truly awful goal, with Antonio Rudiger putting into his own net.
There was some very shaky defending at times from the visitors and some careless passing along the backline, which led to Tuchel to admit it the performance ‘tough to watch’ after the game (BBC Sport).
