According to the Guardian, the 19 other Premier League clubs have all opposed the Newcastle United takeover.
The deal was finally completed on Thursday, with Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium taking control of the club from Mike Ashley.
It was a huge shock when reports emerged on Wednesday that the takeover could be back on. By Thursday evening it was a done deal.

The takeover has received a lot of backlash due to the Saudi involvement, with accusations of sport-washing and a spotlight being put on Saudi Arabia’s deplorable human rights record.
Premier League clubs are reportedly not happy about the Newcastle takeover
Newcastle’s Premier League rivals certainly don’t seem to be happy about the deal, with the Guardian stating that they want to know what changed for it be pushed through and why they received so little notice.
First things first, why should they receive notice? This was between the Premier League, Newcastle United and the buyers.
Simon Jordan has reacted to the news on Twitter, writing: “So much for the big six cartel conspiracy #nufc more like big 19.”
The Guardian add that clubs are worried that the Premier League brand could suffer because of PIF’s involvement.
More likely, it’s the other clubs who will suffer because Newcastle can now become a big player in English football – possibly even European football.

The Guardian’s report certainly doesn’t do the Premier League any favours, after they were accused of being lobbied by other clubs during last month’s CAT hearing.
Toon fans needn’t worry about that case now though, as the takeover saga is a thing of the past. For Newcastle United, it is all about the future.
The Magpies’ Premier League rivals should be worried about this takeover. That’s because Newcastle now have the potential to upset the status quo.
