Simon Jordan names the job Eddie Howe could leave Newcastle for

Eddie Howe’s appointment at Newcastle United could not have gone much better.

It’s crazy to think Unai Emery was PIF’s first choice in replacing Steve Bruce in 2021, turning to Howe after the Spaniard chose to stay at Villarreal.

That has been a blessing in disguise for Newcastle.

While that’s not to suggest Emery wouldn’t have been a good appointment given the work he’s done with Aston Villa, it’s just so hard to imagine anyone other than Howe in the dugout.

Backed by big funds and an ambition to continue challenging the established elite, it looks a happy marriage right now.

Indeed, there are very few scenarios in which one can imagine Howe leaving.

Unless you’re Simon Jordan, of course.

The talkSPORT pundit has now named the one job he believes Howe could leave St James’ Park for.

“Eddie Howe will still be part of Newcastle’s evolution,” he said on White and Jordan (12:29pm 1/05/2023).

“That’s not me being disrespectful, it may be because he chooses to go off and manage England.”

England can wait – there are more pressing matters at hand

Howe is understood to have admirers within the FA but surely that can wait.

It’s incredibly rare to see a top level manager leaving a big club to coach internationally.

Hansi Flick is perhaps the only recent example after swapping Bayern Munich for the Germany job, with international management something of a part-time gig.

Though it’s not difficult to imagine Howe wanting to take charge of his country one day, there are more pressing matters at hand.

He only recently signed a new contract and is on course to get a crack at managing in the Champions League next season.

Right now, there appears to be little need to rush. Leaving a Newcastle team on the up for the England job would be foolish.
