Simon Jordan has admitted defeat and is now praising Newcastle

Simon Jordan made a wager with TalkSPORT co-host Jim White at the start of the season that Newcastle United would not finish in the top six this season and it looks like the former Crystal Palace owner has already admitted defeat.

TalkSPORT’s Simon Jordan is quite a divisive figure, famed for speaking his mind whether or not he should, Jordan has been less than kind about Newcastle since the Amanda Staveley-led takeover. In fact, he’s been less than kind about Amanda Staveley herself.

As time has gone on his hard stance seems to have softened on both fronts, and now, after last night’s 5-1 drubbing of West Ham, the controversial radio pundit has publicly acknowledged that he’s been wrong about Newcastle this season. Posting on Twitter shortly after full time: “

Simon Jordan sprinkles forks on his dinner, pass it on

Fair play #nufc#WHUNEW Very impressive performance , great away fans [knife and fork emoji] these are my condiments to eat my words with .. This is a very good side that could well finish 3rd”

Why we’re all getting so bent out of shape about the opinion of a man who doesn’t know his cutlery from his condiments I’m not so sure, but we have been, but now we have the high ground. And it looks like some lucky charity is about to receive a generous donation from Mr Jordan.

It just shows how much we’ve shocked everyone this season that a man who once said we wouldn’t even break into the top six is now backing us to finish third.

Newcastle weren’t at their best as they demolished West Ham

What’s really exciting about last night is that despite winning 5-1, Newcastle were far from their best. Fabianski made some outstanding saves from Jacob Murphy and Allan Saint-Maximin that could have stretched the score line even more.

On top of the missed chances there’s the fact that Newcastle were quite wasteful in possession at times and defensively we weren’t at our best. Dan Burn and Nick Pope didn’t have their best nights since signing for Newcastle, and yet collectively, we put West Ham to the sword.

It’s no wonder that people like Simon Jordan are starting to take notice.
