Steve Bruce is officially the manager of Newcastle United. The club made the announcement on Wednesday morning, much to the surprise of his previous employers Sheffield Wednesday.
Newcastle announced that Bruce has signed a three-year contract with the Magpies, and will head out to China to meet the players.

He will be followed by two more Steves, Agnew and Clemence. The trio resigned from their jobs at Hillsborough on Monday.
When news broke of Bruce’s appointment, the Owls were very quiet. But they’ve since released a very strong statement about the situation.
Wednesday to take legal advice on Steve Bruce situation
“The Club is disappointed to learn via public statement issued by Newcastle United that it has appointed former Sheffield Wednesday staff Steve Bruce, Steve Agnew and Steve Clemence,” the statement reads.
“Regardless of the fact that the staff resigned from their positions with the Club on Monday, there remains outstanding legal issues to be resolved between the club and the staff and Newcastle United.
“The Club is currently considering its position and taking the appropriate legal advice.”

The mess continues. The saga of replacing Benitez was drawn out and painful, and had an ugly resolution. We’ve now got a manager that we don’t want and was happy to walk out on his former club just weeks before the new season starts. And that’s after they allowed him to start the job belatedly earlier in the year.
But the club are not out of the woods yet. Wednesday are rightfully angry at what has gone on.

We can’t do anything right these days. Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley continue to make a mess with every simple job they are tasked with, and will continue to do so until the club is in better hands.
